Meryl is not your typical monster

Meryl is not your Typical Monster

(This is story that I wrote for a Halloween contest. It had to have certain words and be kid friendly. It was an enjoyable exercise in story making.)

The 7th Annual Halloweensie Contest

It's that time of year again, Susanna Leonard Hill's Halloweensie contest. The Contest: write a 100 word Halloween story appropriate for children (children here defined as 12 and under) (title not included in the 100 words), using the words candy corn, monster, and shadow. (Candy corn will be counted as 1 word.)

(My submission below.)

Meryl is not your typical monster.

She hides a secret, I can’t tell.

You can find it in light or shadow.

Meryl is not your typical monster.

She does have skin and scales.

That is not her secret.

Meryl is not your typical monster.

Her eyes are as big as balloons.

Closer

The secret may be shared soon.

Merly is not your typical monster.

When her mouth is opened, you will find inside,

Her teeth are candy corn and

here is the secret that she hides.

On Halloween, her smile is wide

And the orange glow, lights the outside.
